A study to see the viability of bringing commuter rail from Boston to Concord passed the NH Senate along partisan lines (14-10).

Reasons to oppose this taxpayer boondoggle:

– Many train systems are deeply in debt because they do not have the ridership they projected
– Trains are old technology
– No one really wants to give up their cars
Trains often bring about transit-oriented development (TOD) which fosters more high-density stack’n’pack buildings

The bill must now go to the House and if it passes there, let’s hope the Governor puts the kibosh on it.

ACTION: Assuming it will be assigned to the House Transportation Committee, when a date for a hearing is set, (keep checking the status page) you can express your opposition by writing to them at: House Transportation Committee
