Senate Bill 99 is a good bill that would result in tax relief for towns.

Bill Title: relative to the amount of meals and rooms tax revenue that is distributed to municipalities.

“This bill removes the annual increase limit on the distribution of the meals and rooms tax revenues to municipalities so that 40 percent of net revenues is distributed annually.”

SB 99 would require the state to comply with the promise it made to return a certain portion of the meals and rooms tax to the towns.

At its hearing, the bill was recommended “OTP”.

The full Senate will vote on it on March 11, 2021.
